Book Club
The Book Club are Starting!!! The Book Clubs are Starting!!!
Like reading and talking about books? Want to get together with other book lovers and talk about what you’re reading? Want to hear what Mr. Stencil has to say (if not, that’s okay too!!)?
Then the EMS Book Clubs are right for you!!
Each grade’s Book Club will meet during their flex periods once a month. Students will choose books to read, discuss books, talk about things going on in the book world, promote books, and much more. Remember, we have students who like all kinds of books, so we need to keep an open mind and learn to try new things.
Mr. Stencil may also provide dessert. Who could pass that up?
If you are interested in signing up, please come see Mr. Stencil in the media center for a basic information slip. Thanks for reading!
Diversity Club
East Middle School's Diversity Club is made up of members that represent the entire school body and meet once per month to explore diversity and multiculturalism. Together with faculty leaders, students discuss inclusion topics, peer issues, current events, diverse cultures and traditions as well as unique people and their viewpoints. The Diversity club hosts a variety of events throughout the year such as the harvest party, college visitation program, diversity week, guest speakers, film and book club and school partner program. Members of the club serve as both ambassadors and mentors to developing elementary school programs in the county.
The goal of the club is to build an awareness and an appreciation for diversity and to establish lifelong leadership skills for celebrating diversity.
